WAVE – We’re All Valued Equally

A church in North London tells of its plans for a new inclusive club for young people…

Our plans are to try to establish an inclusive monthly Club in Muswell Hill for young people aged 18-25.

We (a group comprising young people with learning difficulties and friends) hope you’ll be inspired by what we’re planning and that you’ll get involved or do something similar.

Who is the WAVE Club for?
Young people with learning difficulties and others who believe in the importance of/want to be part of an inclusive club

What will WAVE look like?
The aim at this stage is to start with monthly meetings. These will probably take place on a Friday night at the Birchwood Centre (Birchwood Avenue, off Fortis Green) The group will be supported by volunteers from the local community and from churches in and around Muswell Hill (we are setting up a parallel WAVE Church, where those who may struggle with mainstream church services can be encouraged to grow in their faith and friendship with
each other)

The Club will be centred around activities that make it easy for all to feel involved – Club members will ultimately decide on the format and activities that they want – no doubt food and music will be involved!

Our aim is that the WAVE Club will be a place that young people of all abilities respect and hopefully want to be part of.

How you can help
Please tell young people you know who may be interested in joining the WAVE Club/Church.  We will also need volunteers to make this happen, so please also consider joining us.
