Lastminute.God

It was 21st May and I had exactly zero team-members for our mission trip to Guatemala.  I had been searching for twelve months for suitable volunteers and now was ten days away from my deadline.  Even those who had been interested had pulled out.

I was out of options and would have to face humiliating conversations with my boss and the Board of Trustees.  Then God intervened!

Julie, an Employment Facilitator for young disabled adults, was at a conference where I had been speaking and signed up.  Philippa, aged 20 and blind from birth, had been praying to be able to share her testimony with more people, then she heard about the trip and said ‘Yes’.  However, I still knew that three of us would be too small a team to make it work.  Finally, on the day I needed to make a decision, Marie, an Occupational Therapist from Liverpool, phoned up and agreed to go, thanks to God’s perfect/last minute timing!

Prior to the trip the team only met each other once for a half-day briefing.  During the trip, we all worked so well together that people asked us if we all worked in the same office.  When we told them that we didn’t know each other until this trip, their jaws dropped open.  God received the glory.

Our partner Ministries have asked us to return so I’m hoping the team will come together a little bit quicker this time.

This is what one team-member thought of the trip, “The whole trip was an incredible experience, seeing God’s love and work in dramatic ways and meeting many people from different backgrounds. I really enjoyed working alongside my team members and had an amazing time.”  So, if you want to share your skills and be challenged to grow in your journey with God on a trip to Guatemala, get in touch to find out more.
