Integr8 mission teams are travelling to Uganda or Guatemala in Summer 2011. They will provide team-members with an amazing experience, and enable positive change amongst poorer communities, by passing on skills, passion and experience with young disabled people.
Teams will equip others with inclusive ideas, values and strategies so disabled children can participate in school, church and community life.
Central America
Following a fruitful trip to Guatemala, Latin America’s second poorest country, in 2009 and 2010, Integr8 has been invited to return.
This is some of what the team have done in Guatemala…
Delivered training to 170 teachers from across the District
Enjoyed a time of inclusive church with Deaf and disabled friends at El Camina church
Lead Parachute Bible stories with disabled children at the home of our partner organisation, Love the Child
Watched singing and dancing from disabled pupils at partners, New Life School, halfway up a volcano
Inspired local Christian partners to continue the work – equipping local churches with a Biblical perspective of disability; delivering inclusive sessions to young disabled people
Took a boat ride across Lake Atitlan to reach the school venue hosting our training
Africa
Building on a really positive first trip in 2010 to Uganda, working with our Christian partners, RILD – Response Initiative for People with Learning Disabilities, we have been invited to return.
This is some of what the team have done in Uganda…
Delivered training to over 200 teachers, pastors, parents and community workers
Spoke in churches about the value of disabled people
Went on ‘local walks’ to meet families with disabled children in their homes to offer prayer and encouragement

Vacant roles on mission teams include:
- - Trainer/Teacher (e.g. teacher, teaching assistant, Occupational Therapist, Health professional)
- - Young person (16+) or family member with personal experience of disability
- - Buddy (16+) to accompany young disabled person
- - Bible teacher/Evangelist
Support is provided to fundraise the costs of the trip and a team briefing day is organised prior to the trip.
